9 Takeaways from the 9AAA District Championship

Brooke Long continues to improve:

State Qualifier in both hurdle events last year, Brooke Long posted 2 season bests last night in both distances going 15.73 in the highs and 47.28 in the threes. Last week I interviewed her (above) after she completed a brutal 400m Open/300mh double but this week she did not compete in the open 400 and it paid off. Before the weekend those times put her top 10 in the state in both events across all divisions.

Kolin Miller Wins, hits PRs in the Throws:

Kolin Miller, Senior from Wilson Central High School, hit PRs in both throws this week and won both events. His put of 46' 1" puts him in the Top 25 in the state and his throw of 153'-1" in the discus puts him into the top 10. As a sophomore he qualified for the state meet in the discus and is in contention to do the same for both disciplines this season. He will be competing at Eastern Relays this weekend.
