Local HOKA Postal Nationals Kicks off Saturday

Now that the state championship is over it's time for a new season.

Postseason cross country racing gets underway this weekend. And in Nashville, it all gets going with the HOKA Postal Nationals.

With TSSAA competition finished for the year until track season, that means that unattached runners can compete against the rest of the state.

Brentwood High School's Brodey Hasty and Scott Thompson are back in action. And in the coming weeks in Nashville, Hasty and Thompson will begin preparation for NXN competition moving forward.

There are two meets in Nashville that get postseason racing going in the next two weeks. On Saturday night at Lipscomb Academy, the first local meet kicks off at 5:30. Entries just closed on Wednesday night.

This race will include more than just high school athletes. There's an elementary school race going on as well. A few college athletes will even make an appearance.

Lipscomb University's Barbara Ball is entered to compete.

Hasty and Thompson highlight the 55 runners entered in the 3200 meter run. Wake Forest commit Meredith Helton highlights a strong girls field as well. Former Franklin High School and Brentwood Academy standout Davis Holliday will also join the loaded field.

Like Hasty and Thompson, Holliday as competed unattached all season after transferring from TN No. 1 Brentwood Academy back to Franklin for his senior year.

Next weekend's race at Brentwood Academy will attract lots of competition from all over the state. But Saturday should provide a good update of where these unattached athletes are at as postseason begins.

We'll have updates from Saturday's competition as it happens on social media. Be sure to follow us @TNMileSplit on Twitter and Facebook for up to the minute updates on what happens in this first big postseason meet.
