Asics/Alexander Preview

Alexander/Asics Preview Girls:

The girl's race is shaping up to be a very competitive affair. There are 12 girls entered that have season best times under 19 minutes and 39 under 20 minutes. Erin Leonard of Jones County leads the entries with a time of 17:37. She is followed by Erin Fegans of Landmark with a season best of 18:02. These two look to be the favorites to win the Championship division, but will be challenged by Naima Turbes of Westminster, Jackie Addy of Holy Innocents, and Mary Kathryn Knott of Peachtree Ridge who all come in with times of 18:32 or better. These girls won't be alone. With several top notch runners rounding into form one should expect to see Sophia West from Paideia, the Woodland duo of Angela Cochran and Carli Climer, and Landmark's Sarah Foreman and Mary Kellison Thorne close to the front. Grace Ellsworth of Hillgrove and Brenda Ayuk of Alexander will also be working to stay in the front pack. The top girl's teams should be Landmark Christian (1A), Woodland of Cartersville (5A), Cambridge (6A), Starrs Mill (5A), St. Pius (4A), Hillgrove (7A), Alexander (6A) and Westminster (3A) (led by Coach Eubanks who has more rings than Tom Shane)

Boys Preview: Leading the boys this year is Nick Nyman from Starrs Mill with a time of 15:31. He will have plenty of company at the front with Robert Chappell of Alpharetta, Adrian Hernandez of Allatoona, and Kyle Harkabus of East Coweta, all of whom have sub 15:50 season bests. There are five more guys with times under 16 that will push these four. The top boys teams battling for the trophies will be Cambridge (6A), Gainesville (5A), Starrs Mill (5A), Alexander (6A) and Hillgrove (7A).
