2017 Female All-MKXC Track and Field Team

This summer the Metro Knoxville Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches Association (MKXC) solicited nominations for the inaugural All-MKXC Track and Field Teams from member coaches. A committee of coaches selected five team members of each gender from sprints, distance, and field event groups and recognized team members at a ceremony at Farragut High School on July 31, 2017. The Coaches Association recognized each athlete and presented them each with a commemorative orange and white baton from UCS.

2017 MKXC Female Athlete of the Year: Rebecca Story (CAK)

2017 AOY Rebecca Story, a CAK junior, put together the most impressive track season of any female athlete who has ever run in Tennessee.  After winning the A-AA 4x800 with her team at the State Track Meet, Story also won the 1600 (5:06.57), 800 (2:16.64), and 3200 (10:53.33) to score a remarkable 32.5 points as CAK finished a strong 4th in the team standings.  Last fall Story set a state 3200 record of 9:59.85 at the Hoka OneOne Postal National race at HVA, and in June she followed up even more impressively by breaking the forty-year-old 1600 record of Olympic marathoner Margaret Groos at the Music City Distance Carnival, running a converted 4:43.97. One of the favorites to win Footlocker Nationals in fall, Story is the 2017 MKXC Female Athlete of the Year.
