Patriot's Rachel McArthur Goes US No. 1 In The Women's 800 At Princeton

Say hello to a new US No. 1 time in the girls 800m run.

Nokesville Patriot (Va.) High senior Rachel McArthur smoked a field of collegiate athletes -- in her heat -- at the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University on Friday with a winning and Virginia No. 2 all-time effort of 2:05.42.

The Villanova University signee finished sixth overall in the women's 800m field, while Cecilia Barowski, of Hoka NJNYTC, won in 2:01.96.

With 300 meters to go, McArthur split away from the pack and cruised to the finish.

Her time was two seconds faster than Miami Southridge's Kayla Johnson, who posted a finish of 2:07.19 at the Pepsi Florida Relays on April 1.
