Four local runners have been named to the 2016 Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State Cross Country Team that was released by TSWA on Monday morning.
Two of the five spots on the Class AAA Girls’ team were claimed by local athletes – Dobyns-Bennett freshman Sasha Neglia and Science Hill senior Halle Hausman.
Neglia won the Big 7 Conference and Region 1-AAA titles and capped her first high school campaign by capturing the 2016 TSSAA Class AAA individual state championship and leading the Lady Indians to a state runner-up finish.
Hausman capped an illustrious Lady ‘Topper career with a personal-best fifth-place finish at the state meet as Science Hill finished 10th in the team standings.
Science Hill’s Alex Crigger also logged Class AAA boys’ all-state honors while Tyler Youngblood earned a spot on the Class AA boys’ squad. Both finished fourth in their state individual races.
Each individual runner who finished in the top five in their division and classification’s state championships were named to the TSWA All-State cross country team.
