Storylines from the 2016 Arcadia Invitational

Sometimes it seems that the California outdoor track season is divided into distinct sections.  First comes the preseason with all-comers meets, then the early season filled with mid-sized invitationals, many of which specialize in certain event categories.  When April comes around, the size and intensity of the invitationals really jumps up, and the Arcadia Invitational is the first of the truly huge regular-season meets, both in terms of its raw size and its national impact.  Later will come the multi-stage championship season, and the "super-meets" over the next few weekends will help lots of the state's top athletes get prepared for the higher level of competition they will see in May and June.

Writing a preview for a meet that's this loaded with talent is a little intimidating - you can't possibly cover every great match-up of highlight every deserving athlete, or the article would take a week to write and a day to read.  Last year's meet produced an astonishing 1200 national elite performances! Instead, you have to focus on a few areas that jump out at you, the things you're really excited about seeing and hearing about.  So without any further introduction, check out what I think the big stories will be from this year's Arcadia Inviational!
