NEW YORK – She couldn’t help herself. She didn’t mean to.

Anyone who ever saw Easton’s Chanelle Price expected her to start the race like a rocket but not even Price expected to motor through the first half of her 800-meter race like this. When the gun sounded, Price demanded the lead. No surprise there. But Hempstead’s Charlene Lipsey looked intent to ride her shoulder. Once Price noticed Lipsey trying to keep pace, she put the burners on. FULL STORY HERE

NEW YORK – Mount St. Michael senior Brian McGovern walked over to Farrell’s Cory Duggan at the conclusion of the pole vault competition.

Day 2 Highlights - Ramapo boys dominate the sprints, win the 100, 200, 400, 400IH, 4x100 and 4x200. Amityville wins 4x400. Kristin Reese takes 800m. Tonya Miller wins HH, Josalyn White the 100m, Elizabeth Mott the 400m hurdles.

Day 1 highlights included Julian Sheinbaum (Scarsdale) winning the 1600m run while Ramapo dominated the boys sprints. Kevin Malivert ran 10.90 in the 100m prelims and 21.92 in the 200m prelims. Teammate Mike Abelard ran 21.64 in the 200m prelims while Chidi Exemma ran 49.85 in the 400m prelims.

Scarsdale's Nelson Hall cleared 6-08 in the high jump, the best in the state this season.

North Babylon sophomore Vanessa Stewart won the shot put with a heave of 42-06. After putting the shot over 39 feet three times in the prelims with the glide technique, Stewart attempted to spin on her first throw in the finals and only managed a 33 foot effort. She then came back to the glide on her 2nd throw in the finals and unleashed the winning toss, saying "I was so angry," after that previous throw.

TVL Relays - Holland Patent wins team title over New Hartford

Fonda-Fultonville Steeple and Pole Vault - Queensbury's Matt Flint 9:54 3K steeple. Schuyler Duross of Johnstown 3,006 points in pentathlon. Burnt Hills' Meaghan Gregory 7:06 2K steeple.

4/18-20 - NY Relays - Icahn Stadium

Chanelle Price (Easton, PA) vs. Charlene Lipsey (Hempstead, NY) at 800m. Boys decathlon and girls heptathlon are contested. Boys and Girls SMR, Methacton, PA should help meet be the best since it's return a few years ago.

4/18-19 - Red Raider Relays - Boys - Girls
Meets looks good as usual. Girls 800m has Kristin Reese (Carmel) matched up against Sarah McCurdy (Bay Shore) and Shelby Greany's in the race as well. Elizabth Mott (New Rochelle) is entered in both hurdles. Jen Clayton (Suffern) is entered in the 200m. Girls 1600m has Greany, McCurdy, and Emma Miller Bedell (Tappan Zee). Reese and Greany are entered in the 3200m with Suejin Ahn (ward Mellville). The 3200m and 1600m are Friday, the 800m is Saturday.

Boys meets looks good as well with Jesse Drinks (Ossining) against Kevin Malivert in the 100m, Antoine McGill (Clarkstown So.) in the 200m against Mike Abelard (Ramapo), Odain Smith (Woodlands) against Chidi Ezemma (Ramapo), Chris Carrington (North Rockland), Pat Porteus (Somers), Aki Bajulaiye (New Rochelle), and Caleb Duncanson (Scarsdale) in the 800m, Julian Sheinbaum (Scarsdale) in the 1600m.
