2007 STATE TRACK INFORMATION

2007 TRACK INFORMATION SHEET

1.      All track coaches must pick up their team packet at the BlueCross SpringFling Headquarters, which is the Hall of Fame Building in the Greenland Parking Lot at Middle Tennessee State University.  Each packet will have complimentary passes for all participants and coaches, certificates for the participants, and other valuable information.  The passes will allow the athletes and coaches to attend any session in any sport of BlueCross SpringFling.  The passes must be displayed at all times.  There will be one complimentary parking pass for each day the team participates in the State Track and Field Championships.  Buses will not need a parking pass.  All buses will be permitted to pull in the Greenland Lot, drop students off, and exit the parking lot.  The bus will turn right on Greenland and proceed to the Tennessee Livestock Center. There is no bus parking in the Greenland Lot.  It is easy walking distance from the Tennessee Livestock Center to the MTSU Track Facility.  If, however, if the driver does not want to walk, then please have someone in a car follow the bus and bring the driver back to the facility.

If you do not pick up your team packet on Monday or Tuesday and you enter the lot on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, you will pay $5.00 and receive a parking pass to be displayed in the car.  This is an all-day parking pass for all parking facilities in BlueCross SpringFling events.  When you pick up your team packet, it will have a complimentary pass that can be turned in by the coach at Headquarters for $5.00.

2.      The track will be open for practice on the following days and times: Sunday, May 20 from 5:00 PM CST – 7:00 PM CST; Wednesday, May 23 from 2:30 PM CST – 4:30 PM CST; Wednesday, May 23 for 30 Minutes after the conclusion of the Class AAA Girls Prelims.

3.      There will not be a charge for parking or admission on Monday and Tuesday with the multi events.  Tents for competitors should be set up on the MTSU football practice field nearest to Murphy Center.  The adjacent practice field will be used as a warm-up area.  Only athletes and coaches with proper credentials may enter this area.  Other than this area for athletes and coaches only, coaches, parents, and fans must be outside the competition areas and in the seating areas.  YOU MUST EITHER HAVE A COACH’S CREDENTIAL OR AN ATHLETE’S CREDENTIAL DISPLAYED TO ENTER THE TENT AREA AND WARM-UP AREA.

4.      On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday admission is $7.00 and parking is $5.00 per day.  All cars must purchase a parking pass that will allow you to come and go, and also will allow you to go to any other BlueCross SpringFling facility.

5.      On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday all team tents must go on the MTSU football practice field nearest to Murphy Center.  The adjacent practice field will be used as a warm-up area.  Only athletes and coaches with proper credentials may enter this area.  YOU MUST EITHER HAVE A COACH’S CREDENTIAL OR AN ATHLETE’S CREDENTIAL DISPLAYED TO ENTER THE TENT AREA AND WARM-UP AREA.

6.      The Clerk of Course will be set up at the North end of the warm-up area (football practice fields).  All participants must go from the tent area or warm-up area to the Clerk of Course.  They will be escorted to the starting line, awards stand, and will exit the track at the gate near the finish line.  Athletes may not go from the grandstand area to the track area.  Please go over this information with all athletes.  If an athlete is in the grandstand area, they must go to the warm-up area in order to report to the Clerk on second call.  YOU MUST HAVE EITHER A COACH’S CREDENTIAL OR AN ATHLETE’S CREDENTIAL DISPLAYED TO ENTER THE WARM-UP AREA AND TENT AREA.

7.      Relay Cards – You will find relay cards in your packet if you have a relay team that has qualified for the State Track Meet.  Names of the relay team members must be printed and signed by each competitor. The relay card must be turned in to the Clerk of Course on second call.

In Class A-AA and Division II, there are places for the four members of the relay team.  Any person who has been turned in on your eligibility report may participate on the relay team, provided they are not in violation of the four-event limitation rule.  The relay counts as an event for each competitor once they report to the Clerk of Course.

In Class AAA, there are six names on your relay card in the 4 x 100, 4 x 200, and 4 x 400.  Since we are running prelims and finals in these events, the relay is composed of six members.  Any student-athlete on your eligibility report may participate on a relay team, provided they are not in violation of the four-event limitation rule.  The relay counts as an event for each competitor once the relay reports to the Clerk of Course.  These relay cards will be taken up during the prelims by the Clerk of Course and used for the finals on Thursday night (girls) and Friday night (boys).  Only competitors whose names are on the relay card may run in the prelims and finals.  Please make certain that you complete the relay card in the manner you desire when it is turned in to the Clerk of Course at the prelims.  In the 4 x 800 relay, you will note that the relay card has places for only four names since this is a finals only event.

PLEASE REMEMBER – YOU MUST HAVE PROPER CREDENTIALS DISPLAYED IN ORDER TO MOVE TO AND FROM THE WARM-UP AREA AND TENT AREA, WHICH IS DESIGNATED FOR ATHLETES AND COACHES ONLY.
